Third Week

The Faithful Departed

Praying for the souls of our beloved departed, that they may rest in eternal peace.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Opening Prayer

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen.

Prayer for the Faithful Departed

O God, the Creator and Redeemer of all the faithful, grant to the souls of Your servants the remission of all their sins. Through our devout prayers, may they obtain the pardon which they have always desired. We remember before You our beloved family members, friends, and all who have gone before us marked with the sign of faith.

Grant them a place of refreshment, light, and peace. May they dwell in Your heavenly kingdom, where there is no sorrow, no suffering, but only the joy of Your presence forever.

Psalm 130 — Out of the Depths

Out of the depths I cry to You, Lord; Lord, hear my voice. Let Your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy.

If You, Lord, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand? But with You there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve You.

I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in His word I put my hope. I wait for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning.

Israel, put your hope in the Lord, for with the Lord is unfailing love and with Him is full redemption. He Himself will redeem Israel from all their sins.

Prayer of Commendation

Into Your hands, O Lord, we commend the souls of Your faithful departed. May the angels lead them into paradise. May the martyrs come to welcome them and take them to the holy city, the new and eternal Jerusalem.

May they see the face of Your Son, Jesus Christ, and rejoice in the glory of the resurrection. Grant them the fullness of life and love in Your kingdom, where You live and reign forever and ever. Amen.
